Tawa Pulao

Limetrails shares a delicious and quick Tawa Pulao Recipe. A favourite on the streets of Mumbai, the Mumbai Street Mast Tawa Pulao is full of healthy veggies, aromatic rice and flavored with pav bhaji masala. You can also make बचे हुए चावल का तवा पुलाव which is a great use for left over rice. So get cooking and stir up some delicious तवा पुलाव and serve it hot with raita or curd.

Tawa Pulao Ingredients: 

Steamed Basmati Rice – 3 cups

Chopped Tomato – 1 cup

Chopped Onion – 1 cup

Chopped Capsicum – 1 cup

Potato – 2 large (boiled, peeled and cut into cubes)

Green Peas – 1 Tbsp

Coriander Leaves – 1 Tbsp (finely chopped)

Butter – 2 Tbsp

Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 Tbsp

Pav Bhaji Masala – 1 heaped Tbsp

Green Chilies – 1 Tbsp (finely chopped)

Salt to Taste

Lime Juice – 1 Tbsp







Easy Step-By-Step Method of Preparation:


Heat 1 Tbsp. Butter in a pan.









2. Add chopped onion and fry till the onions turn translucent.  

Add Ginger -Garlic Paste – 1 Tbsp. and Sauté for 30 seconds on medium flame.


Add chopped Capsicum and fry for 30 seconds.


Add chopped tomato








Add Coriander Leaves.





Stir all veggies well.


Add Pav Bhaji Masala (1Tbsp)








Add Salt to taste








Add chopped green chilies


Give it a good stir.


Cover with a lid and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.


Remove lid after 10 minutes and add green peas,








Add boiled potato cubes,








Add steamed Basmati Rice (3 cups),








Add chopped coriander leaves,








and a little more Salt to taste.














Stir well.


Put the lid on and let it cook on low flame for 10 minutes.


Add Lime juice (1 Tbsp),

Give it a good mix and switch off the flame.


Garnish with some more finely chopped coriander leaves.


Delicious Tawa Pulao is ready – Serve it hot with Raita or Curd.
