Limetrails takes off from Manali To Leh By Road in a XUV 500 w10 and here’s the route we traversed:
Day1: Rohtang Pass – Tandi – Keylong – Jispa
On day 1 of our Ladakh Trip 2018 Series, we started from Manali and drove via Rohtang Pass to the first check post at Khoksar. After showing our permit at the check post and the customary cup of masala chai, we crossed the calmly flowing Chenab and drove on along the right bank to Sissu. From Sissu the drive to Tandi was a breeze and made a quick stop to tank up the last petrol pump on the route to Leh. After fuelling up the car in Tandi, we bypassed Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul and ended the day with a night halt at the Ibex hotel, Jispa. Nestled along the banks of the Bhaga River, Jispa lies around 20km ahead of Keylong. So, here’s the first segment of our Ladakh Roadtrip 2018 – Manali to Jispa via the treacherous Rohtang Pass., watch the stunning views along the route and all the fun we had in the video below.
Day 2: Jispa – Baralacha – Sarchu – Pang – Gata Loops – Nakeela – Lachungla – Upshi – Leh
Here’s Day 2 of our Manali to Leh drive!! The second stretch from Jispa to Leh was much more nerve-wrecking than the descent from Rohtang the previous evening. The route was Jispa – Baralacha – Sarchu – Gata Loops – Nakeela – Lachungla – Upshi and finally Leh. The 340 kms is mostly an off-roading experience with very few stretches of tar road and it took us 12 hours to reach Leh!
This video is a must watch for all Manali-Leh riders/drivers and we have tried to give you all the information you will need including distances, driving hours, road conditions, pitstops, stay options, do’s & dont’s and glimpses of the entire route.
