Places of tourist interest in and around Pahalgam

Betaab Valley (15kms) – This gorgeous valley gets its name from the popular Bollywood movie Betaab which was shot here in the 1980’s starring Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh. The valley has a gurgling stream running along the left as you enter the gate and well manicured lawns and meadows. A few tea stalls provide snacks and refreshments. A small amusement park on the other end of the Betaab valley is a big attractions for children and adults alike.

Pahalgam Market – The bustling Pahalgam market is a haven for shoppers. Tourists can buy woolens, shawls, stoles, jackets, caps, leather items, gems & jewellery, local handicrafts and artifacts.

Chandanwari located 16 kms from Pahalgam is the starting point of the Amarnath yatra which takes place during the months of July-August every year.

Baisaran Meadow (5kms) – Tourists can trek or take a pony ride to the enchanting meadows of Baisaran.

Tulian Lake – Further ahead from Baisaran Meadow lies the beautiful Tuliyan lake ideal for camping.

Panchtarni (13 kms from Seshnag) –  This is a point where 5 streams meet and is the perfect camping spot.

Distance – 95 kms

Time – 2 .5 Hours

Route :  From Srinagar drive on the Srinagar- Jammu Highway NH1A for 56 kms till Brijbehara (just before Anantnag). Turn left at Brijbehara and drive along the Lidder river for 33 kms. Take the bridge across the Lidder river and turn left onto NH501 and drive 6 kms to reach the beautiful valley of Pahalgam.

Nearest Train Station : Jammu – 280 kms
