Bhindi Masala Fry Recipe

Bhindi Masala Fry Recipe is an extremely simple yet delicious Okra or Lady’s Finger recipe. Bhindi cooked in mustard oil and simple Indian masala has a lovely flavor and a nice crispy texture. This Indian vegetarian recipe is a perfect accompaniment for rice or Indian breads like roti or paratha. Bhindi Masala Fry Recipe is more commonly made at homes for lunch and dinner.

Ingredients for Bhindi Masala Fry Recipe (Okra or Lady’s Finger)

  • Bhindi (Okra or Lady’s finger)– 400 grams
  • Oil – 3 Tbsp.
  • Salt – To Taste
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Method of preparation:

  • Wash and dry the bhindi. Cut it into small round discs and keep aside.

  • Heat mustard oil (or any other oil) in a kadhai or pan. When the oil changes to a lighter colour, switch off the flame.
  • Add Salt to taste. Adding salt to the oil helps remove the mustard oil smell.
  • Add Cumin Seeds, Coriander Powder, Red Chili Powder, and Turmeric Powder and give the masala a good stir. Sauté the masala for ½ minute.
  • Add the chopped bhindi (lady’s finger) and Stir it well.
  • Switch on the flame.
  • Put a lid on and cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes.
  • Give it a check after 10 minutes. Stir it well again.
  • Now let it cook uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • This will remove the stickiness and make the bhindi crispier.
  • After 4-5 minutes, give it a stir again.
  • You get a lovely aroma of the masala.
  • Bhindi Masala Fry is ready.
  • Switch off the flame and give it one final stir.
  • Delicious Bhindi Masala Fry is ready for plating.
  • Remove it in a serving bowl and serve it hot with roti or rice.
